The schedule of the Rio de Janeiro bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics was prepared by the Brazilian Olympic Committee in close consultation with theInternational Federations. According to the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Bid Committee, it also meets the needs of the media and spectators through the spread of medals across the entire program, with two peaks at the weekends to coincide with prime time for spectators and television viewers. The schedule proposed by Rio de Janeiro was adhered to the general priciples of past Summer Olympics and Summer Paralympicsschedules as well as considering local conditions. It would ensure a high impact for the audience, both in the venues and broadcast, and will enable efficiency in the use of existig and temporary venues.
